Reno Nevada – The Biggest Little City

Why do I live in Reno?  Ease of access to hiking, skiing, Lake Tahoe, Truckee River, culture, arts, the people, location of airport and the 4 seasons.  When we first moved here from CA in 2005, I was amazed how I could walk out my back door and into the mountains for a hike, or snowshoeing in the winter.  We were 15 minutes from Mt. Rose Ski Resort (I used to drive 3.5 hours just to get to the closest resort when I lived in the Bay Area).  Also, the sunshine and clean air.  I love the sunny days even after a winter storm overnight.  On days when it’s 50 degrees outside it’s still warm and feels more like 60 degrees.  Since we are in the high desert we do not experience the chill of a coastal fog.

There is endless entertainment at the Casino’s and Event’s Center.  And the Philharmonic has some of the best productions I have ever attended.  Always a fair going on in downtown Reno and Sparks in the summer months.  And so close to some of the best skiing and hiking in the nation.

I knew we lived in a gem when we came in 2005.  Traffic may be a bit heavier, but nothing that compares to most other parts of the country.  Come visit and stay a while.  You’ll be glad you did 😁
